Refund Policy
One policy, for everything sold under Byte Size Factory — a software licence, a virtual item inside a game, or a purchase made through somewhere else entirely.
Where you bought it
Refunds work differently depending on who you paid, so start there.
Bought through Steam, an app store, or another storefront? I never received your payment, and I have no way to issue a refund for it — only the storefront can. Steam’s refund policy, or the app store’s, governs that purchase, and going to them directly is faster than emailing me. If you email me about a storefront purchase, I will point you back to them.
Bought directly from this site? The payment processor is the merchant of record: it takes the payment, issues the invoice, and is who actually processes a refund. You still ask me first — email me, and if I approve the refund, the payment processor sends it back to the payment method you used. I cannot issue a refund myself, and it cannot go to a different payment method than the one you paid with.
Software licences bought directly
If you bought a software licence directly from this site — GameHydra is the current example — you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, no reason needed.
After 14 days, the purchase is final unless the software does not work on your machine and I cannot make it work. In that case, email me and I will sort it out regardless of how long ago you bought it.
Virtual items and in-game currency
Once a virtual item, in-game currency, or a consumable has been granted to your account or used, it cannot be taken back, so a purchase of it is final from that point on — there is no equivalent of the window above. If something has genuinely gone wrong, such as being charged twice or paying for something you never received, email me and I will sort it out.
Subscriptions
Nothing under Byte Size Factory is sold on a subscription today. If that changes, this page will say how cancelling and refunding it works before one goes on sale — nothing above covers a subscription.
What a refund does to your licence
A refund ends the entitlement it paid for. A refunded software licence key stops working and any activation tied to it is revoked. A refunded virtual item or amount of in-game currency is removed from your account. If you want the product again afterwards, you will need to buy it again.
How to request a refund
Email support@bytesizefactory.dev. Include:
- what you bought, and roughly when,
- the email address or order/receipt number from the purchase confirmation, so I can find it, and
- what went wrong, if the refund depends on that rather than the 14-day window.
I read every request myself and decide within a few days. A refund can be declined where the purchase looks fraudulent, or where the licence it paid for has already been revoked for breaking the Terms of Service.
Your statutory rights
This policy sits on top of your statutory rights as a consumer, not in place of them. If the law where you live — including consumer rights over digital content in the UK and the EU — gives you rights that go further than what is written above, those rights still apply, and nothing on this page limits them.
Changes to this policy
I may update this page. When I do, the date at the top changes. If a change would affect a purchase you already made, it does not apply retroactively to that purchase.
